Carlota Maldonado Montserrat

Project Coordinator

Carlota joined Platform for Peace and Humanity as a Researcher in June ’21.
In November ’21, she became Project Coordinator for the Programme “Towards the enforcement of the right to peace”.

Carlota has represented the Platform at the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, the Basel Peace Office, Geneva Business School and the GAAMAC IV Global Meeting.

Carlota Maldonado Montserrat is a certified lawyer in Spain where she currently works as a criminal and litigation lawyer. She holds a Dual Master’s Degree in International Law and Legal Practice from ESADE Law School and Maastricht University, she also studied at Georgetown’s Law Center for Transnational Legal Studies.

Her professional experience has developed in several international tribunals such as the International Criminal Court, the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia and the Kosovo Specialist Chambers. She had previously clerked at the Permanent Mission of Spain to the United Nations in New York and at the Criminal Law Division of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. 

Her research is mostly oriented towards universal jurisdiction, the rule of law and international crimes.
