Researcher, South East Europe and Black Sea Region
Maya joined the Peace & Security Monitor in 2021. She provided research on international law and human rights issues in Southeast Europe and Black Sea Region including Russia and Ukraine conflict.
Maya is an international attorney holding J.S.D. (Doctor of the Science of Law) degree. She is licensed to practice in Turkey and in Illinois. She is a member of Illinois Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, Izmir Bar Association, Union of Turkish Bars and International Criminal Court Bar Association. She is also the only attorney from Turkey admitted to the List of Assistants to Counsel at the International Criminal Court. She worked as an intern attorney with the Harvard Law School’s Immigration and Refugee Clinic.
