Indo-Pacific Programme Director

Position Overview 

The Indo-Pacific Programme Director is responsible for the overall strategic direction and implementation of initiatives, activities, and projects within the programme. The selected candidate will be expected to expand and grow the programme, building upon its current portfolio. 

The Programme Director will supervise Project Coordinators and research teams engaged in outputs such as regional analysis, publications, and events. The role reports directly to the Executive Director and the Management Board. 

The Programme Director should demonstrate strong commitment to the vision and objectives of the Platform and possess sufficient familiarity with the Indo-Pacific region to drive the programme forward. 

While this is currently an unpaid role, it is a senior leadership position ideal for individuals seeking to gain management experience and further develop expertise within a non-governmental organisation.

  • Duration: Minimum 12 months 
  • Time commitment: 10 hours per week  
  • Location: Remote (physical presence in the region is required) 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Manage the overall programme, providing strategic guidance and overseeing implementation of all initiatives, activities, and projects 
  • Develop and strengthen working relationships and networks across Indo-Pacific countries 
  • Identify opportunities for programme expansion, partnerships, and regional impact 
  • Develop concept notes, project proposals, and support fundraising initiatives 
  • Supervise and mentor Project Coordinators and research teams 
  • Represent the programme in relevant online and offline events (seminars, workshops, panels, etc.) 
  • Coordinate closely with the Executive Director, Management Board, and other programme teams 
  • Ensure timely delivery of outputs, including reports, publications, and events 
  • Support promotion of programme outputs and Platform initiatives 
  • Assist in recruitment and onboarding of new team members 

 

Mandatory Requirements 

  • Master’s degree in international law, international relations, international security, peace and conflict studies, or related field 
  • Demonstrated commitment to peacebuilding, human rights, and the Platform’s mission 
  • Strong knowledge of political, legal, and security developments in the Indo-Pacific region 
  • Experience leading teams to deliver concrete outcomes (formal or informal settings) 
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal) 
  • Ability to present complex issues in a clear and accessible manner 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a remote, multicultural team 
  • Proactive attitude in building partnerships and proposing new initiatives 
  • Physical presence in the region, an active network in the region and willingness to develop the network on behalf of the organisation 

 

Desirable Qualifications 

  • Experience in NGO work, programme or project management 
  • Experience in organising or hosting events (online/offline) 
  • Innovative mindset and ability to think strategically 
South-East Europe & Black Sea Region Programme Director

Position Overview 

The SEEBSR Programme Director is responsible for the overall strategic direction and implementation of initiatives, activities, and projects within the South-East Europe and Black Sea Region (SEEBSR) Programme. The selected candidate will be expected to further expand and strengthen the programme, building on its existing portfolio. 

The Programme Director will oversee Project Coordinators and research teams contributing to analytical outputs, publications, and events focused on the region. The role reports directly to the Executive Director and the Management Board. 

The Programme Director should demonstrate a strong commitment to the Platform’s mission and possess a solid understanding of political, legal, and security dynamics within South-East Europe and the Black Sea region. 

While this is currently an unpaid role, it is a senior leadership opportunity ideal for individuals seeking to gain management experience and deepen their engagement in international development and peacebuilding within a non-governmental organisation.

  • Represent the programme in relevant events, including seminars, workshops, and panel discussions 
  • Coordinate closely with the Executive Director, Management Board, and other programme teams 
  • Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of publications, reports, and events 
  • Promote programme outputs and broader Platform initiatives 
  • Support recruitment and onboarding of new team members

  • Demonstrated experience leading teams to deliver concrete outcomes 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English 
  • Ability to present complex topics clearly and effectively 
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills in a remote, multicultural environment 
  • Proactive approach to partnership-building and initiative development 
  • Physical presence in the region, an active network in the region and willingness to develop the network on behalf of the organisation
