Anna Sobko is a Researcher with the Central Asia Programme at the Platform for Peace and Humanity, where she conducts research and analysis on current geopolitical, human rights, and humanitarian developments across Central Asia. She contributes to the Programme’s analytical outputs, including team research and quarterly publications, with a focus on governance, regional security, and rights-related developments in restrictive and politically sensitive environments.
Anna Sobko is an international lawyer and researcher with over ten years of experience in human rights law, legal analysis, political affairs, and diplomacy across Europe and Central Asia. She has worked in the United Nations system, international NGOs, and diplomatic institutions on human rights documentation, conflict-related analysis, legal accountability, and high-level political engagement.
Her experience includes serving as Political Affairs Officer at UNOCHA in support of the Black Sea Grain Initiative, where she provided political and legal analysis in a complex conflict setting. Prior to that, she worked with the Human Rights Centre Memorial, representing applicants before domestic courts and the European Court of Human Rights in cases involving serious human rights violations. She has also held legal and diplomatic roles with the French Embassy in Moscow and Dushanbe, and worked with WFP and FAO in Rome. Anna currently also serves as a Business and Human Rights Research Fellow with Rights CoLab and Araminta, focusing on corporate accountability in conflict settings.
