Babak joined the Platform in 2026 and serves as the Peace Education Project Coordinator for the Mediterranean Region.

Babak Tabarraee holds a PhD in Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures and is an Assistant Professor of Instruction and Coordinator of the Persian Programme in the Department of Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. A published researcher, creative writer, translator, and editor, his work spans Iranian cinema, literature, cultural representation, and intercultural education. He has taught in Iran, Canada, and the United States. His project management experience includes coordinating international editorial collaborations, developing curricula, and organising educational and cultural programmes.
